Welcome back! It's so amazing to think that we are coming into the last quarter of this school year. It will certainly be busy. We have field trips, celebrations, and seven weeks of instructions before EOG's!!!
When the kids come back we will have a week of extra art with a resident artist sponsored by the PTA. The theme will be recycling, ocean, and water which correlates with our literacy unit.
What can you do to help your child prepare?
Continue reading each night. We are building stamina in reading and becoming stronger readers by choosing appropriate text.
Continue to work on multiplication facts. Children need to work on facts over time to internalize them. Choose games that give mixed facts, mix up and split up a pile of flashcards into 4 or 5 packs and do one a night, work on division facts for challenge work.
Continue to have your child do the assigned online homework weekly. Readworks is a great resource. This year, reading EOG will be online. Students should focus on using text evidence to support there thinking for both multiple choice and short answer questions. We will continue using Ten Marks for math homework.
Look for a Sign-Up Genius coming soon for spring conferences. I will begin conferences the second week back after report cards have been distributed (April 5). I look forward to meeting with families.
Remember, Otterfest is coming up- Saturday, April 6th. Stop by the auctions to see our great Lego basket and tile art table made by our kiddos.
