I have a few items to note this week:
Homework:
You will notice that students have "study 2xs" in their agenda. We are beginning to test for fluency in multiplication. Look for the yellow sheet in Monday folders to explain the procedures and for study tips. The kids all successfully took their first on-line test in class today, passing the 1s. I would like for them to do the 2s by the end of the week. Next week we will work on the 4s. Note... the test are NOT in numerical order. The order is posted on this website and on the yellow sheet. They kids may work at their own speed if they wish, they must do them in posted order though. Look at the "Multiplication Quizzes" tab for the online tests.
Also, for homework there will be an additional reading passage due on Fridays. They kids must do PRRS- this stands for preview text, read text, closely read questions, search and locate answers. They must mark the answers in the text. We will review them on Friday.
Next week we will have parent education night. Third grade is hosting an information session about our new language arts curriculum. We hope to see you all there. Please check out this link for an informational flyer:

Change in instruction- As your child may have informed you, Mrs. Stephens and I are team teaching social studies and science this quarter. So far it is a success, so we hope to keep it up. For the first three weeks of the quarter and again for week 7, the students will have science daily with Mrs. Stephens (while I am teaching social studies to her students). Then during weeks 4-6 and 8 they will receive daily social studies instruction from me.
Ten Marks- We had a 100% participation last week! Thank you all for your help at home. This is a great program and I know that it will offer lots of support and remediation for our growing math thinkers.
