I have just a few news items to share before track out.
I have enjoyed meeting with all of the families during the 1st quarter conference period. We have such sweet children in the class and all of them are hard workers and beginning to grow as third graders. I gave to many parents a sheet that has Common Core reading standards and question stems. I have noticed that the front and back are the same! I will resend these out to all of the families. Please look for them in Monday folders. Also, check out the Oak Grove Website for other links regarding Read To Achieve information, http://oakgrovees.wcpss.net/main/?page_id=4769 .
We will have a Math Test this Thursday (Wednesday for SSA students). It will cover: Using arrays and groups for problem solving multiplication and division. Using what we know about inverse operation to solve for division. Commutative, Associative, and Distributive Properties- putting them to use!
Track out assignments:
- Please begin practicing multiplication and division fluency ! When we return we will begin assessing for fluency. I have posted on the "Multiplication Quizzes" tab the assessment procedures and study tips.
- READ, READ, READ
- Colonial Project- Your child will be given a colonial project. We are learning about colonial North Carolina and the people that helped to shape our state. Look for this project assignment coming home this week. You can also go to the new Colonial Project link for a sneak peak. I am extending the due date on the project until 1 week after track out as many families may have their time already planned during track out.
