Just a few items to note for you.
Quarter 1 report cards go home next Friday, 9/26/14. Look for a sign up genius soon after to save a spot for conferences. I look forward to meeting with all of our families.
The following is a message from administration:
Prior to the beginning of our 2014-2015 school year, the Oak Grove staff worked to determine a vision and School Improvement Plan (SIP) for our future. In the process, we identified words that capture our new vision and identified scheduling changes that we needed to make in order to attain our goal. We continue to work towards making the best schedule for our students and have decided that we need to make a few more scheduling changes effective September 29th. Lunches and specials will be adjusted to ensure bigger blocks of instructional time, less transition time and better lunch times for different age groups. We are all excited about these changes and know that this is what is best to improve teaching and learning. Our new times for specials and lunch are listed below.
Our new lunch time will be 1:02 – 1:32.
Our new specials time will be 11:45 – 12:30.
We will begin multiplication and division in math next week. First we work to understand what is multiplication and division. Then we move on into applications and properties. On the "Otter Parent" page of this website I have a link to the strategies that we use. Also, look for the Parent letter coming home in this week's Monday folder that tells about our objectives. I have also updated the "Homework Helpers" page to include video links for multiplication and division. I will inform you of when and how the timed drills will be given at a future date. You are certainly welcome to start practicing multiplication facts at home.
110...Yes, 110!!!!! That is how many new Scholastic books that we earned for our classroom. Thank you for all the the book orders. Your book orders give us points to spend on new books for our classroom. The students are enjoying reading new books in our classroom library.
