We have settled in nicely to third grade and are hard at work. At this point the kids have learned their routines, I have learned their names, and we are beginning to embrace the learning challenges of third grade!
In reading we have begun instruction with Wake County's new curriculum, EL Education. We are reading about children facing learning challenges. Our focus in the upcoming unit is reading informational text and writing to informational prompts.
In math we are leaving multiplication for now. Our next unit is only one week long and we will work with graphs and data. Then we move on to addition, subtraction, and rounding. Please look in your child's Monday folder for a math parent letter for more information. On the letter, you will find relevant vocabulary words, explanation of unit, questions your can ask your child, and video links (which are also on this website).
Interim Reports will be in sent home on Friday 8/10/17. Please note: in literacy we have just begun to deeply read and write. Our curriculum is organic and grows over time. As such, we will have limited assessments applied at this point of the quarter.
